RAS and CCOIC Jiangsu Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Sep 11, 2026

The agreement paves the way for closer cooperation with one of China’s most economically developed provinces, new investment opportunities, and stronger business ties between Serbian and Chinese companies.

Belgrade, September 11, 2026 – The Development Agency of Serbia (RAS) hosted a bilateral working meeting with a high-level delegation from the Jiangsu Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT/CCOIC Jiangsu), an important platform for promoting international trade and economic cooperation.

The key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RAS and CCOIC Jiangsu, establishing a foundation for further strengthening economic relations between Serbia and one of China’s leading provinces in industry, technology, and business development.

The Memorandum was signed by Nikola Janković, Director of the International Cooperation Sector at the Development Agency of Serbia, and Cong Sufeng, Vice President of CCOIC Jiangsu.

Jiangsu is one of China’s leading provinces, with a population of more than 85 million and the second-largest gross domestic product among Chinese provinces. It is also one of the country’s most important industrial, technological, and innovation hubs.

Companies from Jiangsu are already present in the Serbian market and contribute significantly to the development of the local economy through investments across various industrial sectors. Notable examples include Lianbo in Novi Sad and automotive lighting manufacturer Xingyu in Niš, while the Reliance Batteries project represents a potential opportunity for future investment.

Investment Mission to China Planned for November

The signed Memorandum provides a framework for more intensive exchanges of business information, the organization of business delegations, and stronger connections between companies from Serbia and Jiangsu. Particular potential for cooperation has been identified in advanced manufacturing, green energy, and other sectors relevant to further industrial and technological development.

Cooperation will continue through concrete activities as early as November this year, when a Development Agency of Serbia delegation, led by Predrag Deretić, will undertake a return investment mission to China.

During the visit, investment conferences are planned in Nanjing and Changzhou. Their aim will be to present Serbia’s investment potential, the advantages of doing business in the Serbian market, and opportunities for implementing new projects to Chinese companies and industrial partners.

The visit will also provide an opportunity to establish direct contacts with potential investors and initiate discussions on new manufacturing and logistics projects.

By signing the Memorandum and announcing further joint activities, RAS and CCOIC Jiangsu reaffirm their commitment to developing a long-term partnership, strengthening business ties, and creating new opportunities for investment and economic cooperation between Serbia and China.
