Inđija is set to become a new location for the production of advanced battery technologies, as Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech invests €100.5 million in a plant manufacturing advanced batteries for drones, robots and unmanned vehicles.

BELGRADE, 31 August 2026 – Serbia is set to welcome a new investment in one of the most promising technology sectors - advanced battery manufacturing. Chinese company Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech, one of the world's leading companies in this field, will invest €100.5 million in the construction of a high-tech plant in Inđija, dedicated to the production of batteries for drones, humanoid robots, unmanned vehicles, advanced power tools and household appliances.

The investment will bring new production capacity to Serbia's high-tech sector and create opportunities for new jobs, the development of skilled professionals, the transfer of advanced knowledge and technologies, as well as the integration of Serbian companies into the supply chain.

During a meeting with representatives of Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech, the investment and opportunities for its implementation in Serbia were discussed. The meeting was attended by Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanović, and President of the Municipality of Inđija Marko Gašić.

Following the meeting, and in the presence of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, a Framework Agreement on the Construction of a Plant in Inđija was signed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Municipality of Inđija and Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech. The agreement provides a basis for the implementation of the investment and the development of new production capacity in the field of advanced battery technologies.

Chen Xuan, Director and Founder of Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech, expressed her expectation that the investment would have a positive impact on the Serbian economy.

“I hope that the new plant will contribute to Serbia's GDP growth, create new jobs and further develop related industries,” Chen Xuan said.

She noted that a favourable business environment, open communication and strong cooperation with local partners during the preparation of the project played an important role in the company's decision to select Serbia as an investment destination. According to Chen Xuan, the company recognised the high level of support and commitment of all partners involved in the successful implementation of the project.

Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech develops battery solutions for a range of industrial applications, including drones, robots and unmanned vehicles. The company's technological capabilities are supported by numerous patents and cooperation with companies across various industrial sectors.

The investment further positions Inđija as an attractive location for the development of high-tech manufacturing, with the potential to connect new production capacities with the Serbian economy and develop a local supplier network. At the same time, the project creates opportunities for the development of new competencies and specialised expertise in fields of growing importance to global industry.

The arrival of Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech represents an important step in strengthening Serbia's position in global value chains for advanced battery technologies, as well as an additional boost to the development of high-tech industry and high value-added manufacturing.
