Business in Serbia
ZF Friedrichshafen AG officially opened the plant in the city of Pancevo on 12th June 2019 after only one year of construction works.
It is a factory of automotive components in the industrial zone of Pancevo, where over 1.000 people will be employed, plus additional 300 in the planned R&D centre..
This factory produces electric motors for hybrid and electric cars as well as controlers for gearboxes and micro switches. The demand for these products is high, which is why already the plant’s premises are being expanding from 25,000 to 60,000 m2.
In addition to the factory, ZF is building a state of the art 5,000 m2 research & development centre, where about 300 engineers will perform complex performance and durability testing of electric motors and electric drives.
- Number of employees – over 1.000
- 5,000 m2 Research & Development Center is under construction
A manager at ZF Friedrichshafen, Michael Hankel, stated that numerous factors had contributed to the choice of Serbia as the country for an investment of EUR 160 million, Tanjug reports.
"Numerous factors have influenced the decision where to build the factory, and we picked Pancevo thanks to the excellent infrastructure. We have plenty of room to expand the factory, potentials for its development, several transportation roads, and there's also the proximity of the capital of Serbia", Hankel said.
