 City of Leskovac 

 

City of Leskovac is the administrative, economic, social, political, cultural and educational center of Jablanica district. It is known as a city of food, textile, chemical and wood-processing industry, the city of barbeques and culinary specialties. It covers area of 1,052 sqkm and it has 144,206 inhabitants.

Leskovac is on the main route of the railway and road Pan-European Corridor 10. In addition Leskovac passes the European road E75, and several national roads that connect Leskovac with other major sities in Serbia. The closest airport for passenger and cargo traffic is the airport Konstantin Veliki in Nis (47 km). Aerodrom Nikola Tesla in Belgrade is 304 km and is open to a significantly higher number of flights and destinations. For the purposes of freight and passenger transport alternative is the Alexander the Great airport in Skopje (153 km) in Macedonia.

Dominant industries according to the number of active enterprises and entrepreneurial activities are: food with a share of 31.4%, wood processing (producing furniture not included) 13.23% and the production of textiles and clothing along with 13.5%.

Leskovac has several industrial zones, such as: Severna Zona, Nevena, Njegoševa, Radna Zona 58, Zdravlje,  Bunibrodske livade, Zona Istok M1, M1 Zona Zapad, Lebanski put, Zelena Zona.

The most develop industries in Leskovac are manufacture of textiles and garments, food processing, wood processing, and furniture production.

Several international companies are already doing business in leskovac, such as: Yura Corporation, Jeanci, Falke, Actavis, etc.

Leskovac also has Technological & Food-processing park, a project implemented by the EU Delegation in Serbia. It is located in the northern industrial zone of the city of Leskovac and it covers are of 60ha.
